Hello, I'm Karan.
A software engineer in Navi Mumbai, India.
Most of my work is on backends and data processing. I like digging into a slow query or a program that uses more memory than I expected.
Recently, I tested what happens when PgBouncer fills one CPU core while Postgres still has capacity. That turned into an experiment with eight processes and a write-up. I use this site to keep track of work like that.
For five years, I worked at Intensel on backend and data infrastructure for climate-risk products, including geospatial data and distributed processing.
I'm now a Senior Software Engineer at Morningstar, on the Index Technology team.
About this site
I wanted somewhere to put my own experiments and explain the results. The posts include the setup and measurements so you can see what I tested.
You can find the code in the workshop and the write-ups in the notebook. I keep a separate Now page for personal updates.
